Connect to activesync using Bluetooth: The following tutorial covers the process of connecting your Windows Mobile Smartphone or Pocket PC via an existing Bluetooth connection on your Windows Desktop PC. There are some many good reasons to use the Bluetooth connection over the USB type connection. The most important reason of course being no wires to tie you down. The only real drawback is that your phone is not being charged (and the battery will drain quicker) while connected via Bluetooth.
How to setup an Activesync Bluetooth connection:
- From your desktop PC, click Start -> Run, type control then click Ok
- From the Control Panel, click the “Bluetooth devices” icon. Select the Options tab and check the box to Turn discovery on, then click Ok
- From the Windows Mobile device, navigate to Start -> Settings -> Connections and click the Bluetooth icon.
- Click the Mode tab, check the Turn on Bluetooth box
- Click the Devices tab , click Add new device to search for your desktop PC. Follow the onscreen instructions to set a password and establish the connection
How to set up ActiveSync to use Bluetooth:
- From your desktop PC, click Start -> Run, type control then click Ok
- From the Control Panel, click the “Bluetooth devices” icon. Select the Com Ports tab and click Add to add a new COM port
- From Your desktop PC, right click on ActiveSync and select Connection Settings, and then check the option to Allow connections to one of the following. Select the COM port that was set for your Bluetooth device in step two, and click OK
Testing the Bluetooth Connection:
- From the Windows Mobile device, click ActiveSync. From the Menu, select the option to Connect via Bluetooth.
Your Windows Mobile device should now be connected via Bluetooth to Activesync and you should be able to move files between the two systems wirelessly. ![]()
